Brake Repair Red Flags
Thankfully, your brake system will begin to show warning signs to alert you to any brake repair requirements. If you notice any of the following red flags, you'll want to schedule a brake inspection as soon as possible. If a brake warning light has appeared on your dash and is blinking, pull over immediately and contact a service center right away.
- Spongy Brake Pedal - When you push on the brake pedal, does it feel like it goes all the way down to the floor before stopping your car? There could be something wrong with the brake line or brake fluid if that's the case.
- Shaking or Shuddering - When you slow down or stop, does your entire car shake? Most likely, your brake rotors are damaged or warped and need to be replaced.
- Squealing or Squeaking - When you use the brakes, do you notice a loud squeal or high-pitched squeak? This is a sign that your brake pads are worn and need to be replaced.
